Alright homps, I've got a rolling start here!
For breakfast: Two eggs (all I had time for)
Pre-lunch: Two egg and chorizo quesadilla
Lunch: Chicken breast, chicken sandwich, two small burritos
Pre-dinner: A couple handful of cherries and two cups of peanuts
Dinner: Dunno yet but that's already more food in one day than I'm used to eating in a week lol
BIG MAN BIG MAN BIG MAN
I should also let it be known that I have no idea what I'm doing; but supposedly chicken and eggs are great for stacking on good pounds
I will be posting my (crude) diet and (rudimentary) workouts for everyone to read and criticize

I weighed myself for the first time in a year a couple weeks ago and I was up something like 15lbs on the year (good weight).
Last year I was 6'4" about 162lbs and now I'm around 178lbs. Difference? I've gone to a rock climbing gym 2-3 times a week for the year now. It's a blast, the people are all awesome and it's a helluva workout. Highly recommended.
And I don't know ages of people on OPPO but everyone climbs. There are 8 year olds that can kick my ass and 60 year olds who have been doing this for years.

I'm 5'9'' and 130 soakin' fuckin' wet. I was 165 once, in high school, built like a fuckin' brick shithouse. That's where I want to be again. I'm only 31, no reason I can't do it
(except for the fact that I have the metabolism of a 4 year old)

I'm in the same boat. I used to box and was a little bigger then (and hopeless at fighting) and have since lapsed to 140 ish pounds. Maybe time to do a bit more weights and stuff.

Do it!

Do a quick search of a gym nearby. It's a cool thing to try and pick up. I never could go to the gym...wanted something more interesting and social. I've brought a couple friends and one became obsessed. We go every Tuesday and Thursday now.
I did a competition in December and it was one of the more interesting things I've ever been a part of. A frickin' competition yet every person there was yelling encouragement and helping with ideas on how to conquer problems. I love it.
Just started venturing outdoors every once in a while and just getting outside is nice, even without climbing haha.
As a note, I love "bouldering." No ropes, lower walls, dynamic movements.

Jesus, I couldn't eat that, I'd fricken die. (I can't have eggs unless they're baked into something).
My diet lately has been complete shit. My workouts however have consisted of a really solid 26 mile bike ride that simply isn't enough anymore. Problem is, I can't come up with a better loop that I can ride safely right now, and I don't have enough days off of work to do it. I need more hill climbs. I also need to work on my upper body more. In high school I could curl close to 50lb on each arm (I was working my way up through weight training). I'm 145 pounds, 5'8" and it's mostly in my thighs (because of biking). I swear I have the legs of a viking, and the upper body of a skimpy child.
But I can't really do too much because I have a bad back and nerve damage, so sometimes my arms in general feel weak or I get really shakey and can't really lift weights safely.
Life sucks, then you start getting older.

I will! Maybe a good way to do it is to get back into my old boxing fitness routine. Pretty brutal at times but it got results.

We bought a one of those super blenders and we now have kale in the house. Not bad if you mix it with the right stuff.

Free "gym" membership at work, which isn't a bad thing. There's also a boxing shop just up the street from the house. I got a few good places to go just gotta find the right one :)

Yeah I have a low tolerance for eggs too. Since we started getting farm fresh, I've been able to eat more.

When I was working construction I would eat over a pound of steak plus vegi's for dinner. then i'd have another meal a couple hours later.

I was contemplating boxing as an option as well...I have a bit of a short fuse but never act on it (thankfully) so it would have been good to just punch stuff haha.
It's great you have those options! Like you said, you gotta find the right one.
Climbing has consumed me, though. I've met some great people.

I used to eat feverishly. It slowed down a few years ago, and I can't fit as much in my gut any more. I have a feeling, though, that's about to change.
Although I've had a few doctors look, and their responses have been "Idunno", there's gotta be something wrong with me. Whether I eat 1000 or 5000 calories, nothing changes

We will rebuild him.
He will be faster.
Stronger.
Hungrier.
Something else-ier.
I really ran out of ideas faster than I originally anticipated.

I've been straight up allergic since I was little, I get wildly sick if I eat any. Sometimes my girlfriend forgets what I'm allergic to, so that's why I actually do more of the food prep when it's for both of us.

Breakfast: fried egg (3 whites, one yolk) with a bit of real butter (fuck you, you can't have my butter); an apple or other fruit; can of low-sodium V8
Lunch: Turkey patty (93/7 ground turkey, olive oil, sage, whole wheat breadcrumbs, lemon juice); spinach salad (spinach, broccoli, red peppers, red wine vinegar and oil dressing); fruit
Dinner: Salmon, fresh corn on the cob, some sort of fresh fruit.
That's pretty much my pattern now that I'm back on my diet. Other dinners will have chicken or turkey, but I won't eschew red meat because we need the iron. And I've drastically cut back on the beer. I'll sub some steel cut oatmeal for breakfast (that stuff is amazing, but it takes about half an hour to cook it).

That's tree nuts for me. Which sucks ball sacks because Banana motherfucking nut bread

I prefer regular banana bread with no nuts (I'm not much for nuts, my teeth are not so great with crunchy food, so nuts are almost all on the big no list).
But I feel for you. Maybe I'll just take all the banana bread and enjoy it for you?

I'm not interested in building mass, so I don't know. I'm interested in losing weight and managing my BP. I've also gotten back on my bike, riding 10 mi/day. I've missed a few days because my back decided now was a great time to start spasming again. That's also a sign that I'm getting too tubby, because when I lost weight two years ago my back problems stopped. I'll be back in the saddle tomorrow.
The thing about eating this way is that it is 1) expensive and 2) time consuming. Breakfast isn't that bad, but it takes longer than a bowl of cereal or an English muffin (boo enriched white flour!). Lunch takes some time to make the salad, but I make 5-10 of the turkey patties ahead of time and freeze them (I'll shoot you the recipe if you like, it's really easy). And dinner takes some thought, especially since I'm feeding my kids and I need to be sure they get the calories, fat and vitamins they need to grow.
The cost comes in with the fresh fruits and vegetables. I don't buy organic, but fresh stuff will always be more expensive than frozen or canned or processed. Avoid refined flour, avoid fake sugars (I think natural sugar is fine, in moderation), avoid hydrogenated oils and saturated fats. You'll be on your way.

Dude avoid the Chorizo, that stuff is horrible for you. But it tastes amaaaaazing!
Anyway I too know your feel on the gain good weight front. I was 140 and 5'10" leaving high school and joining the Marine Corps. i didn't gain an ounce until I came home from my first 2nd deployment and began eating junk food and drinking like a fish. I got skinny fat up to 165lb. Then began doing crossfit and functional exercise for my chance at joining MARSOC. I 8 months of good diet, swimming 2 miles a day, HIIT weight training and sprinting, I lost the fat and shot up to 175lb very lean. I then fought for the next 2 years to get to 200lbs. To get there I had to over eat to ridiculous levels, meaning I ate large amounts of clean foods, high protein low glycemic carbs, and then every night after I got home from the gym, I ate 1 pint of Ben and Jerry's Chocolate fudge brownie ice cream. I stayed relatively lean and switched to a primarily powerlifting and bodybuilding style weigh training. I maxed out my weight at 226lbs, my maximum squat was 575lb, max deadlift was 405lbs and max bench was 315lbs. I prepared and was midway through a cut from 225 to 190 for a competition last year when I had to have a knee orthroscopy to repair a medial meniscus tear in my right knee. Got of of the Marines, started selling cars, lost that job, found a new one with a 5:30 AM start time, work edit for 6 months and trained maybe 30 days in that span of time. I went from 215lbs and around 13-14% body fat to 205 and probably 18-19% body fat. Now that I have a much better, and better compensating job in Nashville, I train about 6 days a week and have stayed at 205lbs but converted that fat back to muscle and probably have dropped 3% body fat so far. The goal in the next 2-3 years is to max out weight at 265lbs, complete a professional weight cut to 212 for a competition and then stay at a maintainable 230lbs walk around weight with no more than 15% body fat.

Heck yes I want that turkeyburg recipe! We've started toying around with turkey a bit (though not the bacon - it's just not the same) and I could probably use some pointers :)

Italian-style Turkey Patties
1 lb ground turkey (I use 93/7, the leaner stuff doesn't fry as well); 1/4C dry bread crumbs (I use whole grain); 1 tbs lemon juice; 1 tbs olive oil; 1 tsp rubbed sage; 1/4 tsp pepper (I omit).
Ground turkey tends to come in 1.25 lb packages. I use the whole package and it makes 5 patties of about 4.5 oz each. I fry them by themselves, with no oil or butter, the small amount of fat in the turkey is enough. They taste a tiny bit like sausage with the sage, but they're yummy. They need a bit of salt.
The entire recipe calls for provolone or mozzarella cheese. You're supposed to flatten the patties and wrap them around the cheese before frying. It's damned tasty, and we make them that way occasionally, but for my diet, the cheese is verboten, sadly. I just make regular patties and freeze. Thaw in microwave 1:30 on power 6 for my oven.
Something else you can do ahead of time for lunch is what my family chicken bites. I buy the store brand boneless chicken breasts because they are $1/lb cheaper than the name brand. They require a bit more trimming, but the meat is just as good. I cut the chicken into large cubes, then pan fry with season salt. That's it. No oil or butter in the pan, the chicken provides enough fat to cook and most of it cooks away. Then you can put them in the fridge and eat them for lunch over the next two to three days. Super quick and tasty dose of protein.
Somewhat more involved is my oven-baked chicken nuggets. Cut the chicken in the above manner, but then dredge them in beaten egg and coat with a packet of Kraft Oven Fry (it's like Shake n Bake). For the amount of chicken I cube and cook, I usually have to stretch the Oven Fry with about a third to a half as much WG bread crumbs. Nothing bad in the batter mix except salt, the egg wash is just a bit more protein, and there's no deep fat frying. They'll keep in the fridge for a few days, and even taste decent cold, though they'll heat nicely in a toaster oven.

Lol the chicken recipes sound almost exactly like what I do at home as well (when I'm not smoking pork or grilling the chicken)
Gonna pick up some turkey burg and try out those recipes! Maybe see how they are with a half hour's worth of applewood smoke...

Turkey also makes great tacos, but the flour tortillas are a ton of calories.
